We are thrilled to announce the launch of PYK - a brand-new Polish mobile application that makes requesting payments as easy as sharing a link. PYK is powered by Fizen's Open Banking technology and represents a major step forward in peer-to-peer payments in Poland.
What is PYK?
PYK is a mobile app for sending payment requests via a unique link. A user creates a payment request with an amount and description, receives a link like pyk.fyi/abc123, and shares it with a friend. The friend opens the link in a browser, selects their bank, and pays - money goes directly from the payer's account to the recipient's account. PYK never touches the money.
How Does It Work?
The process is remarkably simple and takes about 30 seconds:
- The recipient creates a payment request in the PYK app (amount + description)
- PYK generates a unique link that can be shared via WhatsApp, Messenger, SMS, or QR code
- The payer opens the link in their browser - no app needed
- They select their bank from the list and authorize the transfer
- Money flows directly from bank to bank - instantly and securely
Built on Fizen Open Banking
PYK leverages Fizen's full Open Banking stack:
- Account Information Services (AIS) - for secure bank account verification during registration. Users cannot manually enter an IBAN; the account is verified through Open Banking, ensuring it truly belongs to them
- Payment Initiation Services (PIS) - for initiating bank-to-bank transfers when a payer clicks the payment link
The entire payment chain operates under the PSD2 regulatory framework, with Fizen providing the technology layer and Meest Transfer Sp. z o.o. holding the Payment Institution licence registered with the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF).
Security First
PYK has been designed with multiple layers of security:
- Bank-verified accounts - every recipient's bank account is confirmed through Open Banking AIS, making it impossible to use someone else's account
- Strong Customer Authentication - all payments are authorized in the payer's own banking app
- Fraud reporting - anyone can report a suspicious payment request
- Smart safety features - for amounts over 200 PLN, the "Pay" button activates only after a 5-second delay to encourage careful consideration
Who Is PYK For?
PYK is for anyone who needs to request money from someone else - splitting a restaurant bill, collecting for a group gift, getting reimbursed for shared expenses, or settling up after a trip. The app is completely free with no fees for creating or paying requests.
